DSSSB LDC Typing Test: Speed, Font, and Rules

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) conducts a mandatory Typing Skill Test for the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Assistant, and other clerical roles.

The typing test is qualifying in nature, but because the evaluation uses a strict “blind mode” interface, typing accurately is highly challenging.

1. Speed & Language Choice

Candidates must choose their typing language (English or Hindi) at the time of form filling. The requirements are:

  • English Typing Speed: 35 Words Per Minute (WPM).
  • Hindi Typing Speed: 30 Words Per Minute (WPM).
  • Time Duration: 10 minutes (15 minutes for PwBD candidates).
  • Key Depressions Equivalent: 10,500 KDPH in English (or 9,000 KDPH in Hindi).

2. Keyboard Layout and Font Choices

  • English: Standard QWERTY keyboard layout.
  • Hindi Font & Layout:
    • Candidates can type in Kruti Dev (standard Remington layout) or Mangal Font (usually Inscript layout).
    • The choice of font must be selected as per the admit card guidelines or during the test login.

3. Backspace and Navigation

  • Backspace is Allowed: The backspace key is enabled. You can erase and correct mistakes.
  • Blind Mode typing: The interface does not highlight your typos in red. It behaves like a simple text box. This means you must rely on touch-typing and maintain rhythm rather than looking at the screen for spelling correction prompts.

4. Tips to Crack the DSSSB LDC Typing Test

  1. Practice on Simple Interfaces: Do not practice on platforms that highlight incorrect words in red. Practice on simple interfaces that mirror the official exam screen. You can practice in exam mode for free on the Typing Nexus Practice Portal.
  2. Aim for 40+ WPM at Home: Because of the examination pressure and keyboard variations, target a practice speed of at least 40 WPM in English (or 35 WPM in Hindi) to qualify easily.
  3. Keep Accuracy Above 95%: Since the evaluation is strict, focus on key accuracy and steady rhythm.
